Poor Website Design and You

When was the last time that you personally visited a web site and were turned off and left? I am not talking about the poor content but the actual design elements. It is very easy with the speed of today’s Internet connections for someone to visit a lot of sites very quickly. That means that you can conceivably see a lot of really good content or a whole lot of very bad designs depending on what you are looking for in your search.

Most or at least a lot of websites out there that are designed for folks looking to obtain a US Visa or to help them fill out the USCIS forms for the United States immigration people tend to be just a little bit on the dull side by nature. That is something that really can’t be helped since it is actually a fairly boring topic where people tend to be researching by necessity rather than desire. In other words it is for work and not for pleasure.

If you compare that type of site with one that offers gaming or a lot of graphics you will immediately see what we are talking about. The sites that people want to visit tend to be more graphically intense and more colorful and make you actually engage the website for your experience there. One that is set up top help you do something that you need to do, like a above mentioned trip to get a US Visa from the United States immigration department and USCIS tend to be rather monochromatic and rather negating for the average web surfing individual.

A web design can be a poor web design for several reasons. Perhaps it is rather static with little to no use of dynamic graphics and flash. Or maybe it is just plain boring and dull content. Regardless of the reason these sites and the people that run them tend to not want to waste time on making them attractive and that seems a shame when it is so very easy to do these days.

Just because someone is looking to get US Visas is no reason that the site can not be stimulating. It is a rather mundane thing but the USCIS can even be made a little more tolerable by updating some graphics. Folks after something with the United States immigrations can benefit from a little bit more dynamics. Because if you make the site a little more interesting then there is a chance that these people might recommend other people looking for the same service to visit your site as opposed to some other site offering the same services. Word of mouth is still a great motivator. This is especially true when you can email, blog and tweet you thoughts to millions around the world.

As long as the people in the world at large continue to accept bad and mediocre content on websites and from web content developers, there is little likelihood that anything will change for the better.

Ways that Poor Web Design can Have a Negative Impact

There are so many people no longer on the web today that failed due to improper design and they didn’t even know it. The repairs are usually easy to make but they have hired the wrong person for the job. Improper design can include many things like poor choice of colors, strange functionalities, and even too deep of a site.

Web design really is everything when you build a website. One of the most important things when you build a site today is that it should be designed in a program that is easy for everyone to learn. Don’t hire a web design technician that writes his own code and when repairs need to be made you are relying on this person. When this happens you end up on paying way too much money. Plus, if this person leaves you then you will have to completely rebuild the site over again.

Many companies have problems and fail due to a poor choice of colors on the site. What you think looks good and is classy may be straining to the eyes for the audience you are targeting. You may have a site selling Christmas trees and the colors you have chosen are red and green to match the holiday colors. Whenever users access the artificial Christmas trees page they are blinded by a bright red page with text that is hard to read. Too bright of colors causes problems because the first thing a user’s instinct tells them to do is exit the page. This will not help you sell artificial Christmas trees. Instead, too bright of colors run off traffic. Always use colors that are pleasing to the eyes.

Another way that companies fail online with their website design is through integrating strange functionalities. When you integrate strange things on your site it is only confusing to the visitors. You may think that certain things look cool or when you click on this it takes you to a neat place. If your site has anything confusing about it then users will go somewhere else. Online shoppers expect sites that are easy to manage and click through without problematic issues. Even though it is cool to you it may be a problem for the visitors of your site.

Another website design that causes companies to fail and they do not realize it is the site depth. Site depth is vital for search engines. Search engines work by indexing web pages on websites but they will only index pages that are two or three pages deep. You may have a lot of information or products you think go under one category and then another. The problem is that when you take your pages deeper than 3 on a site then they are not being indexed by the search engines. That means they may never be brought up on the search engines. In addition, users often get confused when a site goes really deep, especially if it is not clear to them how to return back to previous pages they were just visiting.

There are a few things you need to think about when you consider design. You should consider the design of your company logo and the design of your site online business website.

A company logo is the first thing that people see when they visit your business online. You want to have a logo that is creative but not too over the top. Your logo should be relevant to what your products and services are all about or something simple and easy to remember. If you are a perfume and cologne retailer then you don’t want a logo designed with crayons. This would look to shoppers that you sold products for children. Your logo needs to portray professionalism about your business and what you are all about. It should be pleasing on the eyes when people look at it and not be shouting either.

It is also important when you think about your logo design that it is easy to remember. You want people to easily recognize your business and know who you are right away. You want your logo to be easy to design but make a statement that people will remember.

Website design is also important because you need a site that is fully functional. If the design of your site is difficult to get around from page to page you might lose shoppers quickly. You might find you are having a hard time selling candles on your site and you cannot figure out why. Maybe the design of the site doesn’t allow for the shoppers to place a purchase from that particular web page.

Design is also important for your site because it needs to be laid out so users know exactly where they are on every page. It should be easy to navigate through and get right back to the home page when they want to. You might provide a search box in your site so things people are looking for are easy to find. You also might consider keeping your site only a couple of pages deep so users don’t get lost into the depths of your site. This can be frustrating for shoppers.

It is important to remember that it is easier for a user to go to another website that is designed better than to try and figure out yours. The design of your site might be why you haven’t as many sales as you wish you did. A web design company can help you figure out why your site isn’t generating the revenue. If there are problems with your online business they can fix them.

Design is very important to every business. A company logo is very important and it needs to be easy to remember and not too loud. You need a brand for your business that projects a professional image. The design of your website does the same. A poorly designed site can suffer and is often the reason online businesses fail. You might consider hiring someone to take a look at your site to see if that is the problem.

Designing Your e-Commerce Candle Store

There are many things to think about when you are designing your online store. You should consider the product you are selling, the audience you are trying to target, and the functionality of your site. You also might consider hiring a professional to help you with your efforts.

When you consider the design of your site the first thing you need to think about is what you want to do. When you sell items like Trapp candles, you will need to provide pictures of each of the items. This will require you to get a digital camera so you can take pictures of your inventory. You will then be able to upload the photos to the site and list them for sale. You must have photos and you must provide the right content next to each of the photos. This will ensure people looking at each of the candles don’t mistake them for soy candles.

The design of your site is everything because you want to target a specific audience of shoppers who are looking for what you sell. You don’t want to target people who are looking for a job as an Internet marketing consultant. Obviously, they aren’t going to buy your product. You need to generate the right traffic for your site so you sell as much of your product as possible. This part of the design includes the text you write on your site. You need to be sure your site includes the proper words about the items you sell. You cannot have a site that has not text or people will never pull your site up in a search.

Do you want your site to provide information also? You don’t have to just sell candles but you can have informational pages about them too. You can provide instructional pages on how to make your own candles from home. This would create a little appreciation for your business. It would also be more convincing to your shoppers that you make your own inventory if you give instructions how to make them.

If you are selling items on your site then the site needs to be designed properly so people know they can purchase the items listed. You should have a cart and a way to accept credit cards on your site. It should be clear to the shoppers how to purchase items. They should also have a way to continue shopping once they get to the checkout process. It is common for people to want to go back and buy more items but not have a way to go back. This will only limit your sales without this design.

When you design your e-commerce business online you need to consider everything you want the site to do. You should be sure the functionality is there for everything. It is also important to provide the right details for items and make your online business easy for the users to know how to do everything they need to do.
